SU's Alpha Sigma Tau Chapter Earns National Recognition

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Beta Mu chapter of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority recently was recognized by the national organization during its 46th national convention in Minneapolis.

SU’s chapter received the Elizabeth Wilson Operational Excellence, Growth Excellence, and Retention Improvement awards for the 2024-26 biennium.

The Elizabeth Wilson Operational Excellence Award is presented to chapters demonstrating a commitment to management and outstanding operational performance. The Growth Excellence Award recognizes chapters exhibiting a culture of excellence and commitment to membership recruitment.

The Retention Improvement Award is presented to chapters exhibiting significant efforts and improvement in membership retention. The SU chapter increased its size during the biennium, retaining 100% of its new members over the past academic year.

In addition, Beta Mu Chapter Advisor Kate Gemeny Woolford ’07 received the Carrie W. Staehle Award for exceptional service to her chapter and the sorority by a chapter advisory board member.

Attending the convention from SU, along with Gemeny Woolford, were Beta Mu Vice President of Operations Brooke Izzett and Secretary Kylie Perhach, as well as Accountability Advisor Tinsley Foster ‘18.

The Beta Mu chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau was established at SU in 1978. Since then, more than 900 women have been initiated.
