Guest Accommodations & Sign Language Interpreting

The Office of Access & Accommodations coordinates disability-related accommodations for campus guests and manages university-wide sign language interpreting services. If you are planning an event and anticipate accessibility needs, we encourage early communication to ensure appropriate support can be arranged.

Requesting Guest Accommodations & Sign Language Interpreting

Members of Salisbury University's campus community and/or guests attending SU in-person/virtual events may request reasonable accommodations in order to fully participate. To request accommodations, the following form must be submitted to the Office of Access & Accommodations (OAA). After submitting the form, you will receive an email from the OAA with additional information. Please note that accommodations for sign language interpreters and other service providers must be received at least 10 business days before the event/meeting.

Utilize the Accessibility Checklist for Events

To proactively identify and address potential barriers related to physical access, communication, and participation. Our goal is to create a campus climate accessible to all, and proactively plan events free of all barriers: physical, communication, or others, so that all individuals may meaningfully participate in campus activities and events. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that all public events, conferences, and meetings be accessible. Proactive planning for access and inclusion optimizes the opportunity for a well-planned accessible event and minimizes the need for individuals with disabilities to request accommodations to participate in the event. The SU Accessibility Checklist provides a framework for best practices on a variety of common event planning issues, i.e., pre-event, publication, accommodations, food, service animals, and event day.
