Ashlyn graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, concentrating in Statistics, with minors in Data Science and Actuarial Science. During her undergraduate studies, she interned at the Richard A. Henson Research Institute of TidalHealth under the mentorship of Dr. Joyner. There, she contributed to a study examining the utility of molecular testing for indeterminate and suspicious thyroid nodules alongside medical residents and a leading physician. This experience allowed her to apply knowledge in statistics and data management by developing databases with data validation, extracting and cleaning data, and calculating key metrics such as sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, and patient demographics. She gave an oral presentation of this project alongside her leading physician at TidalHealth’s 3rd Annual Research Symposium in 2025.

Following graduation, Ashlyn transitioned into a full-time Data Scientist role at the Research Institute. Her responsibilities include database development, data cleaning, statistical analysis, manuscript preparation, and reporting departmental key performance indicators. She has contributed to numerous research studies and recently became a co-author on her first publication. While working full-time, she has also pursued a Master of Science in Data Science at Eastern University and is expected to graduate in July 2026.

Andrew earned his degree in Mathematics/Statistics from Salisbury University, where he developed a strong foundation in statistical analysis, data modeling, and quantitative problem-solving. During his academic career, he completed several applied, data-driven projects, including work in time series forecasting and machine learning, allowing him to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications. He is particularly interested in using data analytics to address real-world business and technology challenges, and he is passionate about helping students understand how academic skills translate into early-career opportunities in the data analytics field. Andrew is currently a Junior Data Analyst at OSC Global, a cybersecurity firm, where he applies analytical tools such as Excel, Python, and R to transform data into insights that support strategic business decision-making. In this role, he collaborates across teams to analyze trends, build models, and communicate findings that inform operational and technology-focused initiatives.

Sarah graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Data Science and Marketing, with a minor in Mathematics, and was among the first women to graduate with a data science degree from the program. During her time at Salisbury, she was actively involved in academic and extracurricular communities, including the Math & Computer Science Club, Student Business Leader Program, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She also worked as a tutor in the Math Emporium, supporting students in quantitative coursework, and gained early experience applying data analysis through research and internship opportunities. Her time at Salisbury helped shape her strong foundation in both analytical thinking and communication, setting the stage for her career in data science.

Since graduating, Sarah has continued her education at Georgetown University, where she earned her Master of Science in Data Science in December 2025. She now works as a Data Scientist at Navy Federal Credit Union after completing an internship with the organization, where she successfully helped develop and bring a model into production the prior summer. In her current role, she focuses on savings products and uses data to better understand customer behavior and financial decision-making. Across her academic and professional experiences, Sarah has developed skills in machine learning, data analysis, and storytelling with data. She is especially passionate about making data more accessible and impactful, and she is a strong advocate for women's education. She has also conducted research with Room to Read, focusing on women in underserved communities globally and examining the effects of agency on their life outcomes.

Carly graduated from SU with a degree in Mathematics, a concentration in Actuarial Science and a minor in Statistics. During her time as an undergraduate, she participated in the Society of Actuaries' 2024 Student Research Case Study Challenge alongside other actuarial science students. The team's report won third place in the competition and was the only submission from the U.S. to win a prize. Carly also contributed to cross-department research on geographic contributors to mortality. She passed two actuarial exams throughout her time at Salisbury and has completed two more since. While an undergraduate, Carly interned with Guardian Life Insurance Company on the Individual Disability Valuation team. She returned full-time as an Actuarial Student after graduation. On the Dental Network Pricing team, she leads and supports initiatives for Guardian's dental network growth and efficiency. This includes transformational work in the strategic use of network leases as well as in the suite of tools available for provider-facing teams. Carly also supports negotiations with national and regional dental groups and is a mentor to Guardian's actuarial interns. In her spare time, she is an avid hiker, a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and a volunteer with the PA DCNR.

Nicholas graduated from SU with a degree in Mathematics and Concentrations in Actuarial Science and Statistics. He also minored in finance. While an undergraduate, Nicholas interned at SU's Department of Social Work as a statistician and helped analyze internal data, both qualitative and quantitative. Nicholas later completed a second internship at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services where he assisted with model tracking and cost estimation for different programs and analyzed the impact of physician upcoding on expenditures. He also passed three of the professional actuarial science exams while at SU. Since graduating, Nicholas has been employed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In this capacity, he works as an actuary and is active with the Medicaid projections team. His responsibilities include maintaining cost estimate models, calculating the values of new legislative or program changes, and producing receivables for the annual budget. Nicholas successfully earned the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) credential in 2023 and the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), the highest actuarial profession credential, in 2026.

Shannon Bull graduated from SU with Dual Degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science. As an undergraduate she served as an Honors College Ambassador, founded the Women in Technology (WIT) club, and worked as a Supplemental Instructor. She also interned at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility her Junior and Senior years. Since graduating, Shannon has been working for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in support of the Science Data Processing and Ground Software Systems branches. She also worked on the Search and Rescue Intelligent Terminal (SAINT) application which displays distress beacons and provides analysis capabilities to NASA Search and Rescue personnel. SAINT is used for situational awareness during launch and landing activities and was used at sea for the Artemis I mission. More recently, Shannon has been researching Machine Learning applications to detect anomalous messages in space-to-ground link systems to add further security for NASA satellite missions. In 2024 she received the Early Career award for Engineering Excellence at Goddard and was recognized for "engineering practices and leadership in adapting to new projects, ideas, and strategies for advancing technology, novation and communication of results."

Omar Aboul-Enein graduated from SU with Dual Degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science. As an undergraduate, Omar participated in a wide range of student activities including the STEM Living Learning Community LLC, the Multicultural organization, and the Gullcode programming competition. He also completed the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program at NIST four consecutive years, eventually leading to Omar' s full-time hire at the agency. At NIST, Omar works for the Sensing and Perception Systems Group, Intelligent Systems Division. In this capacity, he supports the Measurement Science for Manufacturing Robotics Program by working on the development and validation of metrics, test artifacts, and test methods for mobile manipulators. Omar also participates on a committee which develops performance standards for Robotics, Automation, and Autonomous Systems and is co-chair of the subcommittee that focuses on Grasping and Manipulation in coordination with an international standards development organization. Part of his workload includes devising methods to measure AV perception system performance for the Automated On-Road Vehicle Project. In 2022 Omar was awarded a Postdoctoral and Early-Career Association of Researchers Technical Accolade "for his leadership towards advancing standardization for autonomous mobile robotics in mobile manipulators and automated driving."

Sarah Kotula graduated from SU with a degree in Mathematics (Statistics concentration) and minors in Computer Science and Actuarial Science. As an undergraduate, she tutored in the Math Emporium, was inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon and Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor societies. She was later invited to return as a panelist for the 2019 and 2020 Women in STEM event, where she shared her experiences and continued supporting SU students and future graduates.

After graduation, she began her career as a Data Scientist at First Financial Federal Credit Union. In this role, she collaborated with departments including Lending, Finance, and Marketing, applying data science techniques to drive insights and support strategic business decisions.

In 2024, she joined Delaware Electric Cooperative, where she applies statistical modeling and machine learning across departments to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. A recent project included developing a model that analyzes historical failure and inspection data to identify recurring infrastructure risk patterns and improve grid resiliency—an effort that was accepted for presentation at a professional conference for cooperatives.

Grace Miles graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Mathematics and a concentration in Actuarial Science. While at the university, she served as a mathematics tutor and participated in undergraduate research focused on stock market prediction. She later earned a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Maryland, College Park, with an emphasis on applying analytical methods across business functions.

Grace began her career as a Data Scientist with the City of Salisbury Police Department in Salisbury, Maryland, where she developed a deep learning model to help forecast the location, timing, and type of crimes within the department's jurisdiction. After leaving the City of Salisbury, she joined Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) as a Data Scientist, where she helped establish the organization's data function from the ground up. In this role, she partnered with stakeholders across the utility—including engineering, line crews, and member service—to make better use of operational data and improve efficiency. After four years, Grace was promoted to Manager of Business Intelligence. In her current role, she leads DEC's data and analytics efforts and also oversees the cooperative's customer and accounting software platforms.

Ryan earned a double major in Actuarial Science and Statistics from SU, where he built a strong analytical foundation and demonstrated early commitment to the actuarial profession by passing the Actuarial Exam on Probability during his undergraduate studies. Since that time, he has continued to advance his professional credentials, earning the Associateship of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and achieving membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). He is currently in the process of completing the requirements for Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA). Ryan brings over five years of actuarial consulting experience, including more than three years as a health and benefits consulting actuary and over two years as a pension consulting actuary. His work spans a wide range of employer-sponsored benefit programs, with a focus on financial modeling, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability. Currently, Ryan works at Piper Jordan, where he is responsible for developing detailed cost projections and annual budgets for various employee benefit programs, as well as monitoring financial performance against budget targets. His experience allows him to bridge technical actuarial analysis with practical decision-making, supporting clients in managing risk and achieving their strategic benefits objectives.

Michelle Bradley graduated from SU with a degree in Mathematics, following the Secondary Education track. As an undergraduate, she was active in the Math Club, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, and a Supplementary Instructor for a Discrete Mathematics class. After graduation, Michelle began her career at Pocomoke High School as a mathematics teacher. There she taught Algebra I, Calculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, Statistics, and AP Statistics. In 2019, she was selected as the Mathematics Department Chair. That same year, Michelle returned to SU to pursue a Master's in Educational Leadership. In 2022, she expanded her role at Pocomoke High by serving as the mathematics institutional coach. The following year she was her school's 5D Instructional Coach. Michelle was named Pocomoke High School' s 2023 Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for the 2023 Worcester County Public Schools Teacher of the Year Award. Starting in 2024, Michelle will serve as her school's Curriculum Resource Teacher and be responsible for testing, accreditation, school improvement, and professional learning for staff members. Michelle is very excited to utilize her mathematics degree to develop action plans and professional learning which will best meet the needs of her school community.

Dan Fein graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in Mathematics and a concentration in Secondary Education. Dan was a student-athlete during his time at Salisbury, earning accolades for performance on the baseball field and in the classroom including Salisbury University’s Scholar Athlete Award, Most Promising Mathematician Award, and the NCAA’s Elite 89 Award.

Upon graduation, Dan entered the workforce as a Mathematics Teacher at Queen Anne’s County High School, where he taught subjects ranging from Algebra to Trigonometry and was an active coach and volunteer for the school athletic program. He later pursued a career change through returning to school, earning a Master of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from Georgetown University in 2019.

Dan currently serves as a Principal Data Scientist at ReefPoint Group, where he leads efforts supporting the federal government to develop and deploy fraud solutions and implement enterprise data strategy through data engineering, analytics, and machine learning. At ReefPoint Group, Dan helped stand up the Data Science Community of Practice, a central point within the company uniting data professionals across contracts to foster professional growth and build community. Dan’s growth within federal data science consulting has been strongly supported by skills transferred from his role as a teacher, using clear communication of complex technical concepts to connect analysis to actionable outcomes.
